Airraca Simpson, Esq., got the call from the Vanlandingham associate. A post-nup was needed in a hurry. It would pay $2500. It would reflect a husband-to-wife transfer of a large asset presumably made during the marriage. Of course it would be a phony. But, surprisingly, in American law there is no crime on the books for the mere preparation of a phony document. It is only the use to which such a document might be put that is proscribed. So Attorney Simpson gladly took down a personal credit card number, billed $2500, and drew up the definitive post-nuptial agreement that would answer all questions about the actual ownership of the Desert Riviera Casino and Hotel.

Now it could be proven that Libby had owned the asset all along. The marital agreement divvying things up had been vague enough that assets were not specifically described within the four corners that accompanied the decree. Now it appeared that the casino ownership had been transferred prior to the divorce, and that the divorce decree was ineffective and unnecessary as to that asset.

No one would be the wiser.

Especially not some green lawyer who, it was lately rumored, was hiding out in some cabin in Montana, Nevada, or Colorado, too frightened to even come to court.

This should be an easy enough win for the mob boss and his ex.

It was projected the fees for either litigant would exceed $1 million, plus expenses for air fare to and from Las Vegas, meals and drinks, and vague expenditures that could be contrived to cover up the Blackjack and Baccarat wagers that would need to be tested by counsel while they were holed up in the Desert Riviera.
